Businesses in Kent and Hastings – please use less water

This week the demand for water has been extremely high across Kent and this is putting pressure on our network. We recorded the highest level of demand for water since the 34-degree heatwave last summer, up 15% than we would usually see at this time of year.

We know when it’s hot it can be hard to save water in the workplace. But if water demand remains extremely high and the hot, dry weather continues this may impact our ability to treat and supply water to all in Kent.

Please help us and your local community by using as little water as you and your business can throughout the hot weather so we can make sure there’s enough to go around and avoid restrictions later on.

Thankfully small changes really do make a lot of difference…

How your business can save water

We’ve created a series of resources with simple but effective ways to help you to save water. Whether you implement all, or just some of them, even the smallest actions can lead to big savings – including helping to cut the cost of your water and energy bills. It all makes a difference.

We can’t afford to waste water (southernwater.co.uk)

We’re doing our bit too

We’re reducing leaks in our network by doubling the number of teams working 24/7 to find and fix them and introducing new innovative technologies to detect leaks quickly. We’re repairing nearly 300 leaks every single week and are continuing to find ways to improve out leakage levels.

Save the summer
Together, we can make sure nobody’s summer is overshadowed by water shortages. If we all do our bit, we can make sure there’s more than enough to go around.
